May 2006

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you…

• To all the parents who came in and spent the morning with us for the breakfast during the Week of the Young Child. This made the week very special for the children and staff.

• To everyone who contributed food items for the holiday food drive. The items helped many local needy families.

• Thank you to the parents who contributed items and help us with our Egg Hunt and Party. The treats were delicious!

Comings and Goings…

.

• Welcome Miss Gail, who is taking Miss Tiffany’s place in the Teddybear Room.

Reminders and Important Information…

• Memorial Day – Monday, 5/29. Daycare will be closed.

• Departures from Daycare – If your children are playing outside when you arrive to take them home, please do not enter the playground through the outside gate or lift your child over the fence. With your children’s safety in mind, we do not want them to become accustomed to using the gate to leave the playground. Please continue to enter and leave through the main door. This will also help you to remember to check your children’s cubbies and to sign them out for the day.

• Warm Weather Clothing – Please be sure that your child has appropriately sized spare clothing for the warmer weather. Also, remember that no opened-toed sandals are allowed to be worn when using our bikes or climbing equipment on the playground.

• Arrivals and Departures – If your child occasionally needs to arrive before or stay beyond his/her contracted times, we must ask for at least 24 hours notice to accommodate these requests. Our early morning and late day staffing is planned according to the number of children normally expected to be at the center. We are governed by Department of Welfare regulations concerning staff/child ratios and are staffed accordingly. One extra child can make a difference. Thank you for your help in this matter.

Note: If your child does arrive early or stay late and the hours at daycare exceed

the maximum for your chosen attendance option, there will be an additional

charge for that day.

• Sunscreen – Please help to replenish our supply of sunscreen for the upcoming summer months. Please label your child’s bottle and give it to a staff member in your child’s room. If your child can only use a certain type or only their bottle of sunscreen due to skin sensitivity, etc., please alert a staff member of the instructions. Please apply sunscreen in the morning before your child arrives at school. We will reapply sunscreen on your child’s legs, arms, and face before playing outside.

A Note from the Teddy Bear Teachers…

Warm weather has finally arrived, along with colorful buds and blossoms to brighten our days! As the weather becomes increasingly warm, please remember to check your child’s cubby for seasonally appropriate spare clothes, and to dress them for outdoor play. We also ask that you put sunscreen on your child in the morning before arrival at daycare so they are ready for fun outside. We will reapply sunscreen in the afternoon before time on the playground.

Beginning with the month of June, the preschool classes at our center will end for the summer. This will be the last newsletter until September. During the summer months, we will continue our daily “circle time” and arts and crafts, as well as a variety of indoor and outdoor activities to keep us busy.

Miss Gail is excited to work with the Teddy Bears and to meet all of the other children. Let us all welcome her with open arms and open hearts! We wish everyone a safe and happy summer.
